Membe.co.uk is a classified adverts website. After free registration, anyone can put their classified adverts on the site for free, where they will be viewed by a large audience from all over the UK. Registration is free, and use of all Membe.co.uk’s services will always remain free.

The site

Adding an advert is completely free so we will never ask you for any bank or credit card details, whether on the site or via email. 

Membe.co.uk does not act as a middleman for the selling of items. We merely display classified adverts and accept no responsibility for the content of any of the adverts displayed on the website.

Registration 

Before you can post adverts, you need to register. To register, click on ‘Register Now’ in the top right corner of any Membe.co.uk page. Registration is completely free. All you need for registration is to type in your email address and choose a password. This shouldn’t take more than 5 seconds.

Adding a classified advert

After registering, you can add an advert. To do this, just click on the ‘Add Free Ad’ button in the top right corner of any Membe.co.uk page. We may ask you to sign in again for security purposes. Fill in the required fields marked with a *, although the more fields you fill in, the more chances of people finding your classified ad. You can add up to 3 pictures for your classified advert, and we recommend adding as many pictures as possible to your advert, as this gives it a more professional look and will attract more views. Another good reason for adding pictures to your advert is that Membe.co.uk only posts ads with photos to the ‘Latest Adverts’ section on the homepage.

Tips for buyers

If you are looking for something to buy on Membe.co.uk, here are several tips to get the best out of the site. First of all, it is important to remember that Membe.co.uk does not sell or act as a middleman for any item or service posted on the site. We merely display the adverts posted by other people. If you are interested in an advert and would like to contact or get more information from the advertiser, there are several ways of contacting the advertiser. If the advertiser is online, you can click on ‘Chat’ for instant messaging. If the advertiser is offline, you can click ‘Send Message’ to send a message to the advertiser’s Membe.co.uk inbox. Alternatively, you can call, text or email the seller directly using the number and email address displayed on their advert.

Once you have established contact, you may like some advice about what to ask the seller. We recommend that you first establish that the item/service is still for sale. Then, ask the relevant questions about the item/service; it is not a bad idea to ensure that everything listed in the advert is correct and that there have been no misunderstandings, it is therefore always a good idea to ask even about those details which the advert has alre  ady mentioned. If everything sounds satisfactory, it is always a good idea, if possible, to go and view the item yourself, to completely eliminate misunderstandings.

Once you are satisfied with the item or service, you can either pay in cash or use an electronic payment option, such as Paypal.

Never meet the seller with cash on your person.

Any cases of fraud or illegal activity should be reported directly to the police.

Tips for sellers

When writing your classified advert, make sure to eliminate all spelling mistakes, as this can seriously deter from your advert’s credibility. Using capital letters correctly can also make a world of difference to your advert’s success. If you want your advert to be displayed on the homepage, make sure to upload a picture with your advert, as Membe.co.uk does not display adverts without pictures; this can make a world of difference to your advert’s view count. Attaching a picture to your advert will also lend your advert a much more professional look and it will attract many more clicks than one without pictures. We recommend using up all three available photos.

If a potential buyer makes contact, we recommend caution and vigilance at all times. If you are agreeing to meet with a buyer in person, make sure that people know that you are seeing them. Ideally you should only meet up with interested buyers with a friend or family member nearby. If you are sending the item by post or another delivery service, make sure that you have received payment before you send the item! Ignore any emails stating that your account has been credited with the payment, but check your account directly, since these emails can be fraudulent.

Always remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Nothing can take the place of common sense.

Never share your credit card details with anyone; anyone asking for them should be treated with extreme suspicion.
